When you are cleaning your home and require an extra level of air filtration, a vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter is the ideal solution. The high-efficiency particulate air filter is perfect for homes in which the residents suffer from allergies or asthma. Houses with pets can also benefit from the power of HEPA vacuums. The filter is rated to remove more than 99% of particles in the air that measure 0.3 microns or more in diameter, which accounts for the vast majority of allergens that are known to cause a reaction. Plus, the versatility of HEPA filters means they can be found in all sorts of vacuum styles, including uprights, canister and even robot models.
The Highest Possible Filtration
Dust and dirt in the air of your home can cause a physical reaction for the people living there, even those who aren’t particularly sensitive to allergens. However, for individuals who already are prone to allergic reactions due to air quality, the necessity for clean air quality is even more important. In machines that feature HEPA filters, the body of the vacuum cleaners are completely sealed, meaning dust-filled air will not escape and fly back into the room you are cleaning.
HEPA vacuums can be in both the bagless and bagged formats. The selections from Dyson offer whole-machine HEPA filtration without an actual filter or bags. Other brands, such as Sebo and Fuller Brush, require bags that themselves add an additional layer of filtration.
Many models of HEPA vacuums are perfect from homes in which pets are present, as the dander and hair they add to the environment can be particularly challenging for other vacuum cleaners. Only a HEPA filtration system will ensure reaction-inducing particulate matter will not re-enter the home environment after being vacuumed up by the machine.
Cleaner Air for Your Home
The whole reason you vacuum the floors and other surfaces of your home is to ensure a clean living space. Without HEPA filtration, you may not be reaching that goal. If you have a child with asthma or sensitivity to allergens, a vacuum with a HEPA filter is the best choice for prevent discomfort or bouts of asthma.
In addition, HEPA vacuums come in all sorts of styles. If you prefer the self-directed ease of a robot vacuum, many models are available that contain HEPA technology. Or, if an upright vacuum, with all of its extra tools and uses is more your preference, there are plenty of options for high-level filtration in those as well. Many people enjoy the versatility of a canister vacuum, which they can carry around while working for additional mobility. HEPA filtration adds an extra level of protection in canister vacuums as well.
The trend in home designs is flooring that includes a lot of hard surfaces, such as tile, wood or vinyl. These surfaces can be challenging for many traditional vacuums, with dust and dirt flying out the back of the machine and into the air. HEPA filtration ensures that homes with expanses of hard surfaces are getting an efficient and thorough cleaning with no particulate matter re-entering the living space. With their sealed bodies and high filtration standards, HEPA vacuums solve many potential problems when it comes to your home’s air quality.

General Summary of Proposition 65
The “California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986” (more commonly referred to as ‘Proposition 65’)
was enacted to ensure that customers be properly warned when a product contains a substance known to cause cancer or
reproductive harm. The law requires the State of California to publish and maintain (annually) a list of substances
to be available to the general public. Additionally, the law requires that businesses properly notify residents of
the State of California about the presence of these substances in the products they purchase, or that may be present
in their homes, workplaces, or that otherwise may be released into the environment. The specific list contains a wide
range of naturally occurring and synthetic substances including manufacturing and construction chemicals, pesticides,
tobacco, food-additives, solvents, household products, drugs and byproducts created from a specific product usage.
You may have noticed the below warning label on our products, or on products from other manufacturers. The warning
has become increasingly commonplace and oftentimes raises questions about why the warning exists, and what it means
to a customer. The warning itself is just one of many requirements for businesses operating in and/or selling products
to customers in the the State of California. The warning does not mean that a product that includes the warning will
cause cancer or reproductive harm, but rather it simply is provided in order to educate the consumer that a substance
may exist. A large number of the substances listed under Proposition 65 have been in regular use for many years
without any documented harm to a consumer. This is due to the low concentrations and minimal exposure that actually
occurs with these substances. Those chemicals, however, have been determined by the State of California to be listed
as potentially harmful.
I don’t live in California. Why did my product include this warning?
In order to ensure compliance with Proposition 65 requirements we have determined that all products manufactured by
Living Direct Inc, including products sold under the EdgeStar, Avallon and Koldfront brands, should include the
above-referenced warning label. This labeling requirements exists for all of our products regardless of the
location / destination to which the product is ultimately sold and/or shipped.
We believe that our products, when used as designed, are not harmful and as such this warning is provided
in order to properly conform to the requirements of Proposition 65.
