Canister-Style Vacuum Cleaners
Canister vacuums are a versatile choice among the different floor-care options and typically include a rolling or handheld canister with a long hose attached. The cleaning head or nozzle is usually smaller than that of an upright vacuum, which provides an added convenience when tackling dust bunnies in those hard-to-reach nooks and crannies. They can easily fit under tables, couches and chairs—featuring a wide array of on-board tools and attachments that make any household chore a breeze.
Whether it’s for carpet, hardwood, linoleum or tile, today’s selection of canister vacuum cleaners are well-equipped to treat your home’s specific type of flooring.
Canisters Off Many Benefits
For people who have limited strength or mobility, a canister vacuum could be just the solution. Standard, upright vacuums can be heavy and difficult to maneuver for people with physical limitations, while canister-style units are comparatively lightweight. Depending on the application, many canister models can remain stationary; combined with wand attachments and lengthy power cords, these vacuums offer and extended reach for cleaning much—if not all—of your home.
Trying to clean hard surfaces with an upright vacuum is near impossible. The spinning bristles on upright vacuums can be prone to shooting dust and dirt out from the back of the machine, which only causes more of a mess. Canister vacuums, on the other hand, are designed to eliminate this issue. These portable dustbusters can move from hard surfaces to carpet with ease, making them ideal choices for stairwells, kitchens and bathrooms—any space with multiple types of flooring.
One the most popular benefits of a canister machine is the lower noise level. For households with young children or those with noise sensitivities, a canister vacuum is an optimal choice. Thanks to their innovative design—all components, including the motor, are housed within the insulated canister to reduce overall noises. Also, pets that get riled or upset when a vacuum is running might find the volume of a canister machine less objectionable, which is more restful for everyone involved.
Compact Machine, Maximum Versatility
For people who need maximum efficiency in a lightweight machine, canister vacuums are the obvious choice. They offer unparalleled versatility for cleaning any aspect of your home, and are especially hand for two-story homes, where the vacuum can be easily moved from downstairs to upstairs. Their lightweight maneuverability is much simpler to take up tight stairwells without banging into walls or shins; the hose and wand on canister vacuums is unrivaled when cleaning under the coffee table and around dining room chairs. Anyone who is constantly moving and rearranging furniture to ensure each space is neat and tidy would benefit from a canister vacuum.
The style of vacuum also is handy when it comes to the onboard tools. Users can quickly transition from a full-size cleaning head to crevice tools or other accessories. Again, the lightweight design of the canister is ideal when cleaning drapes or dusting furniture, and many come with specific tools for those chores.

General Summary of Proposition 65
The “California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986” (more commonly referred to as ‘Proposition 65’)
was enacted to ensure that customers be properly warned when a product contains a substance known to cause cancer or
reproductive harm. The law requires the State of California to publish and maintain (annually) a list of substances
to be available to the general public. Additionally, the law requires that businesses properly notify residents of
the State of California about the presence of these substances in the products they purchase, or that may be present
in their homes, workplaces, or that otherwise may be released into the environment. The specific list contains a wide
range of naturally occurring and synthetic substances including manufacturing and construction chemicals, pesticides,
tobacco, food-additives, solvents, household products, drugs and byproducts created from a specific product usage.
You may have noticed the below warning label on our products, or on products from other manufacturers. The warning
has become increasingly commonplace and oftentimes raises questions about why the warning exists, and what it means
to a customer. The warning itself is just one of many requirements for businesses operating in and/or selling products
to customers in the the State of California. The warning does not mean that a product that includes the warning will
cause cancer or reproductive harm, but rather it simply is provided in order to educate the consumer that a substance
may exist. A large number of the substances listed under Proposition 65 have been in regular use for many years
without any documented harm to a consumer. This is due to the low concentrations and minimal exposure that actually
occurs with these substances. Those chemicals, however, have been determined by the State of California to be listed
as potentially harmful.
I don’t live in California. Why did my product include this warning?
In order to ensure compliance with Proposition 65 requirements we have determined that all products manufactured by
Living Direct Inc, including products sold under the EdgeStar, Avallon and Koldfront brands, should include the
above-referenced warning label. This labeling requirements exists for all of our products regardless of the
location / destination to which the product is ultimately sold and/or shipped.
We believe that our products, when used as designed, are not harmful and as such this warning is provided
in order to properly conform to the requirements of Proposition 65.
